House la France overlooks the Orbieu River in the beautiful listed village of Lagrasse. Just a short drive from the following airports: Carcassonne (40 minutes) Toulouse (1.5hrs) Perpignan (1hr) Montpellier (1.15hrs) and Girona (2hrs). Narbonne, the Mediterranean, Collioure, Spain and the Costa Blanca and not far away and a pleaseant drive too.
Relaxing Holidays in Lagrasse
Swim in the river, go for a leisurely walk in the hills, a bike ride, sample oysters freshly plucked from the sea in Leucate, or simply relax on the terrace and watch the sun go down. The Abbey Sainte Marie d’Orbieu, the origins of which date back to the V111 century, is just one of many attractions of this lovely and unspoilt village in an area steeped in Cathar history.
There are six restaurants, two bars, an Epicerie, a Boulangerie, Pharmacy, Post Office and numerous pottery shops and galleries, all only a short walk from the front door as is the medieval (X1V century) covered market square where we have a weekly Saturday market selling a range of delicious organic and local produce including cheese, olive oil, fruit and vegetables, bread and more…
